The Flame
All alone through seemingly endless years
I valiantly protected a simple tiny flame
That refused to die out in the crushing
Blackness of the void, though I chose
To dwell within it almost voluntarily.
Harsh and rough and violent were the
Hands that pushed and pulled and
Controlled me in that dark and lonely
Abyss trying with a desperate evil to
Suffocate and extinguish my tiny flame.
But somewhere high above all that chaos
A faint light glowed steadily and inviting
And it called to my tiny flame with words
Of undeniable truth and unending love
Offering a comfort I could not even imagine.
Then all unexpected the familiar hands of a
Warrior reached into that black insanity and
With a song of triumph pulled me free as my
Tiny flame rejoined that eternal light while the
Souls of angels lifted voices of everlasting joy.

I am a bit late, but I never forget! I like the image of the flames, but I think as much as love they are strength, and it's a strength that shines in both of you. And together... you are invincible. Well-written, lady, a touching poem of power and faith. 'Twas meant to be
